My cousin, Joe Boyle, now deceased, wrote this history of Locust Gap. I believe you will find Joe's work
quite interesting.
Although I was born in nearby Shamokin, I was raised in Locust Gap from age 3. My parents moved from the
infamous "Fifth Ward" of Shamokin to "the Gap" so my dad would be able to walk to work in the local mine.
Growing up as a "Gapper" was great. Neighbors were great, sports were great, and the beer was
always available and cold; especially after last Mass on Sunday morning!
